Using
the major airlines' websites to find airline tickets can also
save regular travelers money. Most airlines have mileage programs,
where purchasing airline tickets will earn you mileage. After
you have accumulated a certain amount of mileage, you can make
a reservation where your mileage will cover the whole length of
a flight, and the price of the ticket is free. You may still have
to pay taxes or airline security fees, but the free ticket more
than makes up for those expenses. Again, this method of saving
money is most useful if you're going to use the same airline repeatedly.
If you decide to use a discount
airfare website to conduct searches for lower fares, your
mileage on any airline will not be applicable, even if you choose
a flight on an airline with which you have earned mileage.
